How far will $4.76 take you?

Yikes! $4.76 per gallon!? How far will a gallon of gas take you and your boat? If you’re like the rest of us, not so far. And if you own one of those multi-engine, big pony boats, umm… maybe you’ll get both engines started and idle for a couple minutes for $4.76.
Gasoline is at an all time high. The picture I’m using for this article was taken a couple weeks ago in Florida. It seems these days filling up a small boat can only be accomplished after first securing a second mortgage on your home. Let me see, I’m running a smaller boat with only a seventy-gallon fuel tank. At $4.76 a gallon it would take, let’s see, about $350 bucks! Ouch!
It seems that auto dealers are having a tough times these days selling trucks and SUVs. If they think they’re having a difficult time selling their goods, try being a boat dealer. Selling anything that uses large amounts of gasoline or diesel fuel has got to be frustrating. I’m sure glad I’m not trying to make a living at such a monumental task. I think I’d have to find a new career path or commit suicide.
At today’s fuel prices Party Boating looks better than ever. If you want to get into boating, and don’t necessarily have a “boat” load of money, then rafting up with a couple cases of beer and some fine ladies sounds like a great plan. At least the boat engine is not running during such excursions.
Oh yeah, be sure to purchase a wind turbine generator. Let’s at least go “Green” on the subject of recharging the boat batteries. We need power for the stereo… and the light in the bathroom.
